Lying in the dark shadow of a half-rotten tree was another shadow, a shadow that was animal shaped. It was making a succession of rather disgusting sucking noises. A pause, a lift of the head, and the shadow proved to be a wolf. Not quite a normal wolf - for no normal wolf had eyes that glowed like two small red embers - but a wolf nonetheless. Moll yawned, and then dragged herself to her feet. She'd been wandering for quite some time to get here, and now although weary she was also bored. Tail waving gently, she plodded out into the open and stood there expectantly. The tip of her tongue showed pink between her blunt and crooked teeth.

The ground shook a little, a branch whipped forward and then back wards. The sound of two pairs of talons beating the earth echoed through the trees. A flash of feathers, the caw of a large bird. Finally the moving beasts came into a small clearing and halted in mid run. Two Diamora stood in the clearing, ruffling their feathers impaitentlly. Atop them rode the twins, rebecca and quendar. The birds sniffed the air wearily. "wolves." fi'reth said mentally to both twins. The two shuddered a wolf had attacked them as babies, the thought still haunted them to this day. The diamora and their riders moved forward and rounded a tree, coming face to face with the wolves.

The grey-muzzled Moll turned her head towards the strange wolf, slowly pricking her ears. As Shella snarled, she calmly let her rump sink to the ground. Stiffly she stretched out her forelegs before her until finally she was lying down. She was just tilting her body sideways in order to roll over in complete submission when she heard the noise of two large creatures approaching. She paused, burning eyes flicking curiously towards the feathered animals and their riders. Once she'd had a good look at them, she turned her head away and rolled over. Her thin legs stuck up into the air as she lay there on the ground for several seconds with her throat and belly exposed. Then with a little groan she rolled back onto her belly. Hello, young lady. she said to the wolf from her position on the ground, speaking in the tongue of wolves. Beg passage on your land, mean no harm, extend paw of friendship, etcetera.

Rebbeca nodded politely to the submissive wolf. Even if she feared wolves anyone could understand their body language. She however glanced warily at the other wolf. Fi'reth cawed in warning, if that wolf attacked it would be in for a suprise.

It seemed that her action to appease the young wolf had been reassuring to the other strangers as well. Molly rolled onto her stomach, running her tongue out in a lazy grin as the girl on the feathery creature nodded at her. That was nice. "HELLO." she said in Rebbeca's language, in a voice that boomed loud with a deep snarl behind the sound. The word seemed to almost echo. With a surge the old black wolf was on her feet, and then as the moon slid behind a cloud she strolled forwards to investigate. In the suddenly deeper darkness her body almost disappeared, leaving the twin red glows of her eyes seeming to float as she approached the diamoras.

smuggles was snaking through teh trees eating random snakes when he came upon a strange sceane. In the pitch darkeness he could still see btu what eh saw wasn't comforting. there were two wolves tow diamoras and two human type things. One wolf was mivign mysteriously towards teh diomoras and to the young girl. MSuggles ahd to warn her. so he quitly started snaking his way over to the diomora hoping that he wouldn't spook it. It os nto the best place to be at the feet of a spooked diomora bird. he shuddered at the thought of those talons in his skin.

((hope it's okay to reply before you, trixiebeagle; I'm assuming that I'm not imposing on your charrie by doing so))
At first, Molly didn't notice the effect she was having on the birds. Well, that is ... she did notice it, but she didn't register anything wrong with it. After so many years employed to be frightening, such a reaction was routine ... for a few seconds as she padded quietly across the grass and watched the birds' legs, she even almost thought she was back there in her old life. Not for one moment did it occur to her that the birds, possibly also the riders, could knock her to the ground and incapacitate her with ease. Her mind was running on different lines: she should run them all back into something, keep the rhythm of the walk up just nice, beauti-
Oh, wait.
The two red dots of light stopped abruptly. Molly sighed. She could keep them moving, but what would it achieve, really? Nothing useful. Those birds were interesting. After a pause to think, she tried again. "HELLO"

ah hi? (mindspeak) replied Fi'reth catiously. H'reth just babbed his head. "why hello there." replied the twins, almost talking as one.

the Wolf stopped and had started talking. This confuzzled smuggles beyond belief. "Oy, what going on here?" he asked sliding out of the under brush barely visible in the darkness except for the yellow glint in his eyes.
